Black Gypsum DG®
Black Gypsum DG® granules are homogenous and combine natural gypsum and humic substances to form a unique bio-amendment.
DG technology from The Andersons creates a dust-free, spherical, ultra-dry granule that rapidly disperses into thousands of microparticles upon contact with moisture. These microparticles deliver calcium, sulfur, and carbon directly into the soil. The DG technology allows for reduced application rates, as compared to other agricultural-grade gypsum products, which makes this a very economical soil amendment.

The Power of Black Gypsum DG®
Benefits:
- Water soluble formula that contains 70% calcium sulfate dihydrate (CaSO₄·2H₂O)
- Increases available calcium and sulfur without changing soil pH
- Contains 10% humic acid, which supplies 15-30 lbs of humic acid per acre
- Improves root development, plant nutrient uptake and phosphorus stability
- Enhances soil health by stimulating soil microbial populations and relieving compaction and salinity
- Blends with fertilizer or can be used alone
Dispersing Granule (DG) Technology:
Black Gypsum DG® utilizes The Andersons’ patented Dispersing Granule (DG) Technology, which allows a single granule to dissolve into many small particles upon contact with water.
- The Andersons’ DG technology creates spherical, dust-free, and ultra-dry particles. These granules rapidly disperse upon contact with soil moisture, creating tens of thousands of microparticles, which greatly increases surface area and allows for faster breakdown and availability of the applied substances.
- Granules can be spread evenly and consistently through all types of application equipment. In contrast, other granular competitor products are dusty, non-uniform, and can contain up to 20% moisture, making them hard to handle and difficult to spread.
- Granules are designed to be ultra-dry, which allows for successful blending with all types of dry fertilizers, including urea.

Application Details
Directions for Use:
Apply any time as a soil conditioner. Black Gypsum DG is designed to deliver available sulfur, calcium and humate to a wide variety of vegetable, field and horticultural crops. Black Gypsum DG’s manufacturing process enables the use of a reduced application rate, as compared to other agricultural-grade gypsum products. Consult your soil test results for pH, cation exchange capacity (CEC), organic matter, and soil active carbon levels and apply accordingly.
Apply only as directed. For use on crops, sod, turf, fruits, vegetables, nursery crops, gardens, landscape trees, shrubs and flowers. This product is ideal for soils with one of the following issues: compaction, low CEC, sandy, or saline. When applied to saline-sodic soils, the gypsum will loosen the heavy, hard packed soil, allowing water and air to penetrate and move freely in the soil. This product will not increase soil pH. It may lower or reduce the soil pH of unproductive, highly alkaline sodium soils.
Our recommendation is to perform a product trial prior to use of this product.
Recommended Application Rates:
Broadcast Application:

Application rate should be based on individual grower practices. The following are general recommendations only.

Do not apply near water, storm drains or drainage ditches. Do not apply if heavy rain is expected. Apply this product only to your lawn/garden, and sweep any product that lands in the driveway, sidewalk, or street, back onto your lawn/garden.
For turf applications:
When establishing a new turf area, apply prior to or directly after seeding, or while hydroseeding. Irrigation of 0.2 to 0.4” will help the granules disperse (not required for hydroseeding) and self-incorporate into the soil. High clay soils and/or colder temperatures will require a higher rate and additional time to self-incorporate due to the fine soil particles. Product will disperse throughout hydroseeding slurry.
When applying to established turf, immediately apply a minimum of 0.2 – 0.4” of water for optimum results and granule dispersal. If a second watering is needed to complete the dispersion, wait 10 minutes and again apply a minimum of 0.1” of water.
For corrective soil remediation on established turf areas, apply in Spring and Fall. Multiple applications may be necessary depending on situation.
